How to Set Up a Blog on Squarespace: A Step-by-Step Guide
Blogging is one of the most effective ways to share insights, boost your SEO, and connect with your audience. Squarespace makes it easy to set up and manage a blog—even if you’re just starting out.
In this blog post, we’ll walk you through how to create a blog page, write your first post, and customize your blog layout in Squarespace 7.1.
Steps to follow…
Steps to Set Up a Blog Page in Squarespace 7.1
Log in to your Squarespace account by visiting Squarespace.com and opening the website you want to add a blog to.
From the left-hand panel, click on Pages.
Click the + (plus) icon to add a new page and choose Blog from the page types.
Name your blog page (for example: “Blog” or “Insights”) and click Done.
This creates a dedicated blog page where your posts will be published and organized.
Steps to Add Your First Blog Post
From your newly created blog page, click Add Post in the top-left area of the blog dashboard.
A blank post editor will open. Here, you can:
Add a Title for your blog post
Insert text, images, videos, or code blocks
Format the content using headings, bullets, and quotes
Set the author name, categories, and tags under the Post Settings
Upload a thumbnail image for your post preview
Once your content is ready, click Publish (or Save as Draft if you want to come back later).
How to Customize Your Blog Layout and Settings
From the left-hand menu, go to Design > Site Styles.
Click on your blog page to preview it.
Use the style editor to adjust font sizes, thumbnail display, spacing, and post metadata layout.
You can also go to Settings > Blogging to enable or disable features like:
Comments
Social sharing buttons
Post URL formatting
RSS feed options
These adjustments ensure your blog matches your overall website design and brand style.
