How to Add a Newsletter Signup Form in Squarespace 7.1

If you’re building an email list for your business or blog, Squarespace makes it easy to add a newsletter signup form and connect it to a subscriber list. Whether you’re using Squarespace Email Campaigns or an external service like Mailchimp, the platform offers built-in form blocks and integration options that help you collect and manage contacts effortlessly.

In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the steps to add a newsletter signup form in Squarespace, including how to create the form, connect it to a subscriber list, and configure post-submit and confirmation email settings.

Steps to Add a Newsletter Signup Form in Squarespace

1. Log in to Your Squarespace Account
Access your Squarespace dashboard and open the website where you want to add your newsletter form.

2. Navigate to the Page Where You Want the Form
In the left-hand panel, click on Pages and select the page where you want the newsletter signup form to appear.
Click Edit on that page to open the content editor.

3. Add a Newsletter Block

  • Scroll to the section where you'd like the form to appear.

  • Click the + icon to add a new content block.

  • Select Newsletter from the block menu.

This inserts a pre-designed newsletter signup form that’s easy to style and connect to your preferred email storage or campaign platform.

4. Customize the Form
Hover over the newsletter block and click the pencil icon to open the block’s Settings. You’ll see three tabs at the top: Content, Design, and Storage—each with settings to help you tailor the form to your needs.

Content Tab

Here’s where you customize the visible content of your form:

  • Form Name – Give your form a clear, descriptive name (e.g., “Homepage Newsletter Signup”) so it’s easy to find in your dashboard and reports.

  • Title & Description – Add a short, compelling reason why visitors should subscribe.

  • Disclaimer – Include legal or GDPR-friendly text if necessary.

  • Button Text – Customize the CTA (e.g., “Join Now” or “Subscribe”).

  • Require Name Field – Toggle on if you'd like to personalize future emails.

  • Post-submit Settings – Choose whether to show a thank-you message or redirect users to a dedicated “Thank You” page.

Design Tab

Here you can style the form to match your brand:

  • Adjust layout, alignment, background color, and border strokes to keep the design consistent with the rest of your website.

Storage Tab

This is where you set where subscriber data goes:

Squarespace Email Campaigns:

  • Go to Contacts → Lists & Segments and create a new Mailing List.

  • Return to your newsletter block settings and select that list under “Storage.”

  • If no list is selected, subscribers will still be stored under Contacts, but organizing them into a list makes future email campaigns easier.

Other Integrations:

  • You can also connect your form to Google Drive, Zapier, or Mailchimp depending on your preferred workflow or marketing tool.

Additional Settings:

  • Send Confirmation Email – Toggle on if you'd like to send a welcome or confirmation email automatically. This builds trust and confirms delivery.

  • Enable Google reCAPTCHA – Helps prevent spam bots from submitting your form with fake email addresses, keeping your list clean and high-quality.

5. Final Setup and Testing
Once everything is set:

  • Position the newsletter block where it fits best within the page layout.

  • Click Save in the top-left corner.

  • Visit your live site, enter a real email address you have access to, and submit the form to test it. Confirm that the post-submit message (or redirect), confirmation email (if enabled), and subscriber list all work as expected.
